Phillies Roll to 8-2 Win Over Pirates
|
The exploits of designated hitter Chris McKoon, who finished 5th in the NL in home runs with 33 in 2028, helped the Philadelphia Phillies defeat the Pittsburgh Pirates, 8-2. McKoon was 2 for 5 with 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Philadelphia is now 20-22, while Pittsburgh is 13-28.
Philadelphia used a clutch hit from Agustin Soliz to get the win. The pinch hitter drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Phillies ahead, 4-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Soliz told the Philadelphia Gazette.
