Brandon Woodruff never let New York get something going. The New Jersey right-hander commanded his slider in pitching the Pioneers to a 4-1 win. Josh Nissen locked down his 11th save. The first-place Pioneers have a one-game lead in their division.

The fans who came to support the Pioneers were pleased with the outcome. It was what they had hoped for when they passed through the turnstiles at Cognizant Grounds at the Meadowlands.

"Our goal is to improve each and every day," Woodruff told the New Jersey Daily.
