The Washington Nationals defeated the New Jersey Pioneers, 6-5, in American League action at Cognizant Grounds at the Meadowlands. Washington pitcher Alan Farrell had a standout performance. Washington reliever Josh Bonk picked up the win, upping his record to 5-2. Eric Toth took the loss. Zach Pop finished the game for Washington and earned his 1st save.

Washington relied on the bat of Tony Rivera to get the win. The designated hitter ripped a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Nationals ahead, 6-5. For the game, Rivera had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.

"Feels good to get the job done," Rivera said after the game.

The win gives Washington a season record of 31-21.
