Reds Pick Up 2-1 Win Over New York
|
New York wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Juan Cantu, falling to the Cincinnati Reds, 2-1. Cantu threw 9.0 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. The third-place Reds sport a record of 72-66.
The Reds took the lead in the top of the fourth when D.J. White banged a two-out home run. Cincinnati had been trailing 1-0, but White hit a 1-1 fastball from Juan Cantu for a 2-run home run.
In postgame remarks, White said: "To all who've been doubting my effort -- I hope they saw this game."
