New York Gets 9-8 Win
|
In a tight contest at Minute Maid Park, the New York Yankees edged the Houston Astros by the score of 9-8. New York left fielder Juan Contreras, who blasted 1 home run, was a key contributor. The win gives New York a record of 3-1.
Tied up with the Astros in the top of the fifth inning, the Yankees got a boost from shortstop Jeremy Choate. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Choate saw a first pitch fastball from J.B. Bukauskas and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put New York on top, 6-5.
"I just tried to make good contact," said Choate.
