Alvarado Gets Award for Relief Work

Jose Alvarado said he thinks hitters often underestimate him, as he's only 25 years old.

But he'll certainly be getting a lot more respect now, as the Tacoma Rainiers rising star has won the Triple-A West Reliever of the Year for 2030.

He captured the award on the strength of his 1.81 ERA over 44.2 innings. He also had 31 saves in 47 relief appearances, 61 strikeouts and only 20 walks.

He received 11 first place votes out of a possible 12. Rusty Clayson of the Oklahoma City Dodgers finished second in voting with 1 first place vote, while Andy Duca of the Oklahoma City Dodgers finished third.
