Jumbo Shrimp Win Round 1 Tuesday, September 1st , 2071 The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp have swept the Mile High Marlins and are on to the Round 2. Jacksonville won 6-4 today at Roger Dean Stadium to clinch the Round 1. "We're happy to have put the dagger in when we had the chance," said Jacksonville left fielder David Lewis, who was named MVP for the series. "It could have been a tough series to finish if we let them start winning." Lewis won the award with a .538 batting average and a .625 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, drove in 6 RBI and scored 7 runs. The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the GCL Cardinals - Kokomo Jackrabbits series. Kokomo leads the series 3 games to 0. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes. |
