Bardi Good, But Not Good Enough, in 11-7 Loss
New York got a terrific game from left fielder Verdiano Bardi. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Cincinnati, 11-7. Bardi went 3-5 with 2 home runs, while adding 6 RBI and scoring twice. Jose Archibeque got the win, improving to 2-1. He held the Mets to 3 runs on 5 hits over 5.1 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 1. Cincinnati, at 27-33, sits in 4th place in the National League Central Division.

Cincinnati used a well-timed hit by Marco Calderon to capture the win. The center fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the second inning to put the Reds ahead, 3-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.

"Scoring runs is scoring runs," said Cincinnati skipper Bryce Harper. "It's important to have different ways to do it."
