Capitals Pick Up 5-1 Win
|
Starting pitcher Jim Underhill was a major factor in the 5-1 Ottawa Capitals triumph over the Cleveland Indians. The winning pitcher was Underhill, now 2-0. He tossed 6 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 4. The Indians are now 8-13.
Veteran left fielder Eric Hamilton came through in a pinch for the Capitals. In the top of the sixth, the 41-year-old Hamilton hit a run-scoring single on a 1-0 slider from Jason O'Leary. It enabled the Capitals to take the lead. For the game, Hamilton was 3 for 5 with 3 singles. He scored 2 runs.
Underhill called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
