Red Sox Prevail, 7-5, Over Seattle
|
The Boston Red Sox overcame a good performance by Seattle designated hitter Steve Finley to knock off Seattle, 7-5, at Fenway Park. Finley went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Tim Harris, now 2-1, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2.2 innings. Arthur Rhodes earned save number 2 this season.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, the Red Sox grabbed the lead when Sandy Alomar Jr. rapped a two-out home run. Boston was trailing 5-3, when Alomar Jr. hit a 3-run home run off Jon Lieber to put his team in front, 6-5.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Alomar Jr. told the Boston Daily.
Boston goes to 10-13.
