Swans Move on to College League Championship Series
|
The Rochester College Swans didn't hold back their excitement after beating the Plaster Rock College Whalers in the College Wildcard Series tonight.
Members of the team rushed onto the field and celebrated joyously when the victory became official, with a 8-1 win moving the club on to the College League Championship Series, clinching a 3-1 series win in front of the Ballpark of Plaster Rock College crowd.
"This isn't the big one, but of course we need to get through this before we can win a College Cup, so it's an important step," said Ben Fox as he took a break from celebrating. "Our guys are happy and excited to be moving on."
Fox was named series MVP, as he hit .353 with a .389 on-base percentage. He had 3 home runs, drove in 7 RBI and scored 5 runs.
On the other side of the diamond, there was desolation. Many members of the Whalers sat stone-faced in their dugouts, simply watching Rochester College celebrate.
The Rochester College Swans don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the El Paso College Missiles - Anchorage College Caribous series. El Paso College leads the series 2 games to 1. The College League Championship Series schedule will be announced after the College Wildcard Series finishes.
