Giants Beat Cardinals, 3-1
|
In a low-scoring contest, San Francisco pitcher Paul Edmondson was marvelous in his team's 3-1 win. The Cardinals fall to 7-9 and continue their uneven start to the 1966 season.
Had Gail Hopkins not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Hopkins hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Giants.
"I like our moxie," said Giants manager Andrew Galvin.
