Close Win Moves Mets to 74-52
The inspired effort of Boston first baseman Joey Votto was not enough to prevent a loss, 6-5, to the New York Mets. Votto went 3-4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Picking up the save was Will Harris, his 25th. The triumph puts New York at 74-52 for the season.

New York used the bat of Yoenis Cespedes to get the win. The right fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Mets ahead, 5-3. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.

"Our guys are never satisfied," said New York manager Hubie Brooks .
