Extra-Inning Win by Reds over Mets
|
In a tight game between the Cincinnati Reds and the New York Mets, pitcher Denny McLain was terrific on the mound. The Cincinnati right-hander was named the player of the game in Cincinnati's 1-0 win. Cincinnati reliever John D'Acquisto was the winner. His record is now 4-1. Jose Alvarez took the loss. The win boosts the Reds to 66-77. The loss puts the Mets at 57-86.
John Stearns made it 1-0, Cincinnati, in the top of the 13th when he hit a sacrifice fly. It was a big at-bat in the Reds win.
"I like our resilience," said Stearns.
