Toronto Wins Game 4 in Extras; On Verge of WS
|
With right fielder Paul O'Neill leading the charge, the Toronto Blue Jays got past the Detroit Tigers, 6-4, in extra innings in Game 4 of the League Championship Series today. O'Neill was 4-8 with a triple and 3 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 at Tiger Stadium as Toronto managed to take to a 3-1 lead in the best-of-7 series.
Jeff Blauser's hit in the top of the 14th was a game-changer. With one out, he rapped a forkball from Rick Honeycutt for a run-scoring single. It put Toronto in front, 5-4.
In postgame comments, Blauser said he was glad to contribute to an exciting win.
Game 5 is scheduled for tomorrow at Tiger Stadium in Detroit. Slated to start are David Cone for the Toronto Blue Jays and Jimmy Jones for the the Detroit Tigers.
