Indians Win at Philadelphia, 7-1
|
The Cleveland Indians went home winners at Veterans Stadium, thanks in large part to starter Carlos Carrasco. Carrasco stifled the Philadelphia Phillies, enabling Cleveland to grab the 7-1 win. Carrasco went 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 2, and struck out 8. His record improves to 15-11. Cleveland is second in the American League Central with a record of 78-82.
Cleveland used the timely hitting of Jose Altuve to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Indians on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Indians manager Sid Hamlin , "I like our chances."
