San Francisco Win Evens Series at 1
|
With second baseman Carlos Hernandez leading the charge, the San Francisco Giants got a road win over the Philadelphia Phillies, 11-5, in Game 2 of the Divisional Series today. Hernandez was 4 for 5 with 4 singles and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 at Veterans Stadium to help San Francisco force a 1-1 tie in the best-of-5 series.
San Francisco used the timely hitting of Willis Otanez to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Giants on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Otanez told reporters after the game.
The next game is scheduled for Monday in New York. The scheduled starters for the game are Chris Carpenter for the Philadelphia Phillies and Mark Redman for the the San Francisco Giants.
