Marty Keough had a good game, but he could not keep the Minnesota Twins from falling, 8-5, to the California Angels at Anaheim Stadium. The Minnesota right fielder went 3-4 with 3 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 in the loss. Masanori Murakami got credit for the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2.2 innings. Marcel Lachemann notched his 11th save in 17 chances.

California took a 8-5 lead on Link Curtis's 22nd home run of the season. The 3-run home run came off Minnesota pitcher Richard Cassani in the bottom of the seventh.

"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Terry Kift said.

The AL-leading Angels have a record of 45-23.
