Kansas City Gets 4-2 Road Win
|
The rain did not keep Kansas City and Cleveland from finishing their game.
The Kansas City Athletics bested the Cleveland Guardians by a score of 4-2, with third baseman Dick Green getting the main credit. On the day, Green went 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Athletics. Jeff James, the winner, improved to 6-6. He held Cleveland to 2 runs on 5 hits over 6 innings, while racking up 7 strikeouts. Earning his 3rd save of the year was Dick Ellsworth.
With Kansas City leading 1-0 in the top of the fourth, Green hit a fastball from Gary Bell for a 2-run home run. It was his 7th home run of the season and put the Athletics ahead, 3-0.
"The hot tub feels extra good after a solid win," said Green.
The Athletics saw their win-loss record go to 40-32. At the same time, the Guardians fell to 43-32.
