Mets Top Reds 7-2 to Begin WCS
The New York Mets powered past the hometown Cincinnati Reds, 7-2, in the opener of the Wild Card Series at Cinergy Field today. New York starting pitcher Tyler Chatwood threw 6.0 innings of 5-hit ball, to lead the charge. The Mets now lead the series 1-0.

Jim Moon, the 30-year old center fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Moon contributed a run-scoring double in the top of the fifth inning to put New York up, 3-0.

"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said New York manager Hubie Brooks .

Game 2 is scheduled for Friday at Shea Stadium.
