Giants Roll Over Braves, 9-3
|
San Francisco third baseman Julio Linares made his presence felt in the 9-3 Giants triumph over the Atlanta Braves. Linares went 4 for 5 with a double and 3 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Ed Barnowski, the winner, improved to 11-3. He held the Braves to 3 runs on 6 hits over 8 innings, while striking out 10 and walking 2. San Francisco now sits at 45-35, while Atlanta falls to 41-40.
Jesus Alou, who is tied for 4th in the NL in stolen bases with 17, aided the San Francisco cause with a 2-run single in the bottom of the second. For the game, the left fielder went 2-4 with 2 singles and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2.
"The boys came out and just played their butts off," said San Francisco manager Andrew Galvin.
