Hospital Names New Wing in Honor of Bunning
Sunday, January 30th , 1966
At a ceremony today in The United States, the president of the local childrens' hospital announced that the institution will be naming its new wing after Jim Bunning, who grew up in the area and who is now a popular starting pitcher for the New York Mets. The hospital's president proudly stated that the new wing is being named after Bunning due to his generous donations and countless hours of charity work for the hospital over the years.

Speaking at the ceremony, Bunning said: "I'm beyond honored. This is where I got my start, and I still have a lot of family here. No matter how far my baseball career takes me, I'll always have a special place in my heart for this community and its wonderful people." Groundbreaking for the new construction is expected to take place in the spring, and Bunning has been invited to turn the first shovel of earth to mark the occasion. "As long as it doesn't conflict with the Mets schedule, I'll be here," he told reporters.
