Daniel Pitches Pioneers to Shutout Victory
Friday, July 8th , 1966
Mike Daniel handcuffed the Reading Guardians at Dunn Field today, coming away with a 2-hit, complete game shutout.
"I had everything working for me out there," the Elmira Pioneers right-hander said later. "I used every one of my pitches, hit both sides of the plate really well and felt like I could do whatever I wanted."
With his stuff working, Daniel had little trouble with the Guardians and led the Pioneers to victory, 3-0. He recorded 11 strikeouts and 2 walks in an impressive performance.
This year Daniel has a 7-4 mark in 15 starts with a 2.76 ERA. He has given up 94 hits in 117.1 innings, struck out 91 and issued 26 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .216 batting average against him.
