Bosworth Takes Charge, Blanks Winston-Salem, 5-0 Friday, July 22nd , 1966 Joe Bosworth of the Burlington Senators was on fire against the Winston-Salem Red Sox at Ernie Shore Field today. He shut them out 5-0 on 7 hits, collecting 9 strikeouts and allowing 6 walks. "The first two pitches I'm looking for an out, a ground ball or a fly ball," Bosworth said later. "I'm trying to get quick outs. I've never been a big believer in trying to strike a guy out from the very first pitch. It's too easy to end up behind in the count doing that." So far this season Bosworth has no saves in no relief appearances with a 11-5 record and 2.62 ERA. |
