Tampa Shuts Out Twins, Schaeffer Winner Thursday, August 11th , 1966 Mark Schaeffer held the Orlando Twins to 4 hits and fashioned a fine 8-0 shutout at Al Lopez Field today. Speaking after the game, Tampa Tarpons manager David Perry said "Schaeffer had everything going for him today. He changed speeds effectively, stayed down, had a lot of movement. He was masterful." Schaeffer rung up 10 strikeouts and surrendered 3 walks in the game. "We couldn't get anything going. He certainly had our number," Orlando manager D.J. Brill told reporters. For the season Schaeffer has logged 5 wins and 2 losses and struck out 102 batters in 76 innings while compiling a 4.50 ERA. |
