Bates Fans 17 Rebels Friday, August 27th , 1965 If you can't hit 'em, you can't beat 'em. That was the story today at the Johnson City-Salem clash at Cardinal Park. Yankees hurler Billy Bates gunned down 17 Rebels via strikeouts and beat them 9-0. In a superb performance, he allowed 7 hits and issued 2 walks for the victory. For the year Bates has a 7-2 record with a 1.57 ERA in 14 starts. |
