Loughlin Sparkles in 2-0 Shutout
Wednesday, June 8th , 1966
Columbus Confederate Yankees hurler Larry Loughlin was stingy with runs in his latest outing against the Knoxville Smokies, shutting them out 2-0 on 5 hits.
"Larry was very aggressive tonight," Columbus manager Trevor Rouleau said. "He threw everything he had with a lot of confidence."
Through 9 innings, Loughlin tallied 11 strikeouts and allowed 3 walks.
"He was throwing strikes with all his pitches and mixing it up well," losing manager Nick Scales said. "Loughlin has a sneaky fastball, and whatever that off-speed pitch was, it was keeping our timing off."
In 11 starts this season Loughlin has gathered 5 wins while suffering 5 losses. He has pitched 72.2 innings, allowed 57 hits, struck out 63 and has a 3.22 ERA.
