Twins Score Late to Upend Spiders, 5-3
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Minnesota Twins and Cleveland Spiders.

The Minnesota Twins locked up a win at Target Field, knocking off the Cleveland Spiders, 5-3. On the mound for Minnesota was left-hander Mike Rodish. He played a major role in the triumph. Minnesota reliever Sergio Delgado picked up the win to move to 1-0. Sergio Ramirez suffered the loss. Leith Handrahan earned the save, his 5th.

Had Steve DeSimone not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, DeSimone hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Twins.

"Just glad I could help us get a win," said Rodish.

With the win over Cleveland, the Twins improved to 18-22.
