Giants Need Extras to Top Cubs, Lead 2-1 in Series
The San Francisco Giants went into extra innings against the Chicago Cubs but ultimately moved to within one game of the League Championship today. The Giants downed the Cubs at Wrigley Field by a score of 5-1. San Francisco left-hander Eric Ekstrand had a solid outing. He threw 6.0 innings of shutout ball. The win gives the Giants a 2-1 advantage in the best-of-5 Division Series.

San Francisco relied on the hitting of Steve Adsitt to pick up the win. The right fielder ripped a run-scoring triple in the top of the tenth inning to put the Giants on top, 2-1. For the game, Adsitt had 1 triple and 2 singles in 4 at-bats.

"We'll take some time to unwind," said Ekstrand, "and then get after it again."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Wrigley Field in Chicago.
