White Sox Drop Contest, 3-1, to California
|
The California Angels picked up a win at U.S. Cellular Field, taking down the Chicago White Sox, 3-1. Starting pitcher Steve Lipe was a big reason why. Lipe, the winner, moves to 7-2. He threw 6 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up 3 walks. With the win, California raised its record to 39-34.
Luis Aguilar, the fan favorite , had a direct impact on the outcome. Aguilar contributed a solo home run in the top of the sixth inning to put California up, 3-1.
"We didn't string enough hits together to win the game," said tight-lipped Chicago manager Zach Van Horn. "Obviously."
