Mets Edge Past Phillies, 8-7
|
Good production from catcher Rodolfo Estrada helped the New York Mets topple the Philadelphia Phillies, 8-7. Estrada was 4 for 5 with a home run, 3 singles, and 2 walks, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Mets. The Mets now have a record of 31-75.
The Mets procured the win, in large part because of third baseman Luis Villa. In the bottom of the 14th, he produced the game-winning run-scoring double.
"That was your kind of game, if you like high drama," said Mets manager Anthony Valentine.
