Washington Nationals starter Chris Casey was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Atlanta Braves, 6-3. Sergio Peralta, 2-1, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. The Nationals improved to 67-57.
Jeff Sunderland, the 22-year old second baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Sunderland contributed a 2-run single in the top of the second inning to put Washington up, 3-0.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Washington manager Ryan Long.
