Resendez Excels in 9-6 Washington Win
|
With right fielder Juan Resendez leading the charge, the Washington Nationals defeated the Milwaukee Brewers, 9-6, at Miller Park. Resendez, who finished 2nd in the NL in batting average with .338 in 2045, was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 5. Picking up the save was Juan Islas. He's now 12 for 13 in save chances. Washington has 3 straight wins, Milwaukee 3 straight losses.
Washington took a 8-6 lead on Steve Mitchell's 34th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Mitchell hit in the top of the ninth, left Milwaukee pitcher Brian Duenas visibly frustrated.
"We got the victory," said Mitchell. "That's all that matters at the end of the day."
