Petersen, Marlins Clobber Expos, 10-1
|
Florida first baseman Eddie Petersen played a vital role in his team's 10-1 triumph over Montreal. He belted 2 home runs. He drove in 6 runs and scored twice for Florida. Jeff Bryson, the winner, goes to 1-0. He allowed no runs on 4 hits, with 1 walk and 9 strikeouts over 7.1 innings. The loss drops the Expos to 3-8.
With Florida leading 1-0 in the top of the fourth, Petersen hit a fastball from Chad Bovio for a 2-run home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the Marlins ahead, 3-0.
"The vibe's good," said Florida manager Andy Williams. "We've got to keep it going."
