Salminen Smashes 500th Homer
Friday, July 12th , 2047
"I wasn't trying to hit a homer. I just wanted to make contact."
That's what Sansan Salminen told reporters after he made baseball history today at Citizens Bank Park. The prolific slugger belted home run #500 in the Philadelphia Phillies 14-7 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The standout center fielder collected 4 hits in 5 at-bats with 4 runs batted in and 5 runs scored.
"I guess this puts me in baseball's elite," said Salminen. "I don't feel any different. I probably should, but I don't. Still, it is a nice achievement. I did get a little excited, didn't I?"
In his career, Salminen has compiled a .271 batting average and collected 2092 hits, 501 home runs and 1314 RBIs.
