Hits Galore: Benard Drills 5 Hits Thursday, July 7th , 2101 At Field of the Sun Kings, Marvin Benard of the Syracuse Mets put on a hitting clinic. He banged out 5 hits in 5 at-bats and mauled the Las Vegas Aviators pitching staff, but Syracuse still came up short on the scoreboard. The Mets went home with the 6-5 loss, in spite of a standout 5-hit performance from their left fielder. "Hey, it's great to get that many hits in a game, but it would have been nice to win the game, too," Benard said in the postgame interview. Marvin Benard hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, doubled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
