Widner Fans 16 Wind Surge Tuesday, August 20th , 2086 Led by an outstanding performance from starter Wild Bill Widner, the Corpus Christi Hooks topped the Wichita Wind Surge today by a score of 4-0 at Jersey City Grounds. The 35-year-old Widner brought his top game to the mound, striking out 16 batters while allowing 3 hits and giving up 1 walk. "He made a lot of good pitches out there," Wind Surge manager George Blackerby said. "He made some of our guys look bad. We didn't help matters, but we really have to give him credit -- he didn't make many mistakes." In 12 starts this season Widner has fashioned a 7-1 record and a 3.56 ERA.
