Big Game from Walsh Not Enough, Angels Lose
The Oakland Athletics weathered an outstanding game by Los Angeles first baseman Jared Walsh to topple the Angels, 9-6. Walsh hit 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. A.J. Puk picked up the win, improving his season record to 15-7. He struck out 4 in 6 innings. Miguel Romero, credited with the save, is now 36 for 40 in save opportunities.

The Athletics had to work out of trouble in the bottom of the ninth. The score was 9-6, Oakland, with one out. Los Angeles, with runners on 1st and 2nd, was mounting a threat. Jahmai Jones dug in at the plate, but on a 0-2 fastball, he hit into a double play.

With the win, Oakland raised its record to 92-69.
