Missions Hammered by Stevens, Drop Game 3 to Rainiers
The Tacoma Rainiers have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading San Antonio Missions, winning, 9-7, at Nelson W. Wolff Municipal Stadium. Rainiers catcher Nate Stevens was 3-4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. The win cuts the deficit facing the Rainiers to 2-1 in the best-of-5 Round 2.

Had Nate Scherr not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Scherr hit a 2-run single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Rainiers.

"Winning is contagious," said Stevens. "We're looking forward to the next game."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Nelson W. Wolff Municipal Stadium in San Antonio.
