The Vermont Lake Monsters moved to within one game of the Round 2, downing the visiting Tri-City ValleyCats at Centennial Field by a score of 12-1. Lake Monsters catcher Rogelio Vargas did some major damage. He was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 3 times and drove in 4. The win gives the Lake Monsters a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-5 Round 1.

Nate Alverson helped his team take an early lead with a 2-run home run. It came in the first inning, making the score 2-0, Lake Monsters.

"Things aren't going great right now," Tri-City manager Saul Castellanos said. "But you don't need me to tell you that."

The next game is set to be played for Sunday, September 17th , 2045 at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium in Troy.
