The rain made it unbearable at times; nonetheless, the faithful who endured the elements enjoyed themselves.

The St. Louis Cardinals stopped the Detroit Tigers, 7-4, behind an impressive performance from Derek Bigler. The former first round draft pick made life miserable for Detroit pitching. He was 2 for 4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. The Cardinals now have a record of 54-47.

The Cardinals got a big at-bat from third baseman Jorge Platero. For the game, Platero went 1 for 5 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 20th home run of the season gave St. Louis a 2-0 lead.

"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Platero said.
