El Paso starter Nate Francis pitched effectively against the Salt Lake Bees at Smith's Ballpark. The right-hander led his team to a win, 7-6. El Paso pitcher Humberto Serrano got the win. He's now 2-1. Kevin Manente was tagged with the loss. Pat Dore, who leads the PC in saves with 26, nailed down the save.

The Chihuahuas used some clutch hitting to beat the Bees, a good example being the at-bat of Ron Ward in the top of the ninth. With two down, Ward gave his team the lead, 7-6, when he hit a run-scoring single.

"We've got guys willing to do what it takes to win," Francis told the El Paso Daily News.

With the win, El Paso has a record of 47-42. Salt Lake falls to 39-50.
