3-1 Win Takes Stripers to 60-43
|
The Gwinnett Stripers scooped up a win at Coolray Field, dumping the Pawtucket Red Sox, 3-1. Eli Gustafson, who is tied for 7th in the in complete games with 3, was essential to his team's success. Gwinnett goes to 60-43. The win puts them 9½ games up in their division.
The Stripers got a big at-bat from shortstop Chris Barber. For the game, Barber was 1 for 2 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 runs. In the bottom of the sixth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 7th home run of the season gave Gwinnett a 2-1 lead.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Gustafson told reporters after the game.
