Center Fielder Hartley has 3 hits in Birmingham Win
|
The Birmingham Barons defeated the Chattanooga Lookouts, 7-0, in part because of right fielder Phil Hartley. Hartley went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Barons. Birmingham reliever Juan Molina was the winner. His record is now 3-1. Tim Whiting took the loss. The first-place Barons have their sights set on making a deep playoff run.
Josh Echoles had a key at-bat with one out in the bottom of the sixth for Birmingham. With the bases loaded and the Barons leading 1-0, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run.
Hartley attributed the win to his team's "hyper resolve."
