Whitecaps Deal Hot Rods Painful Loss
Bowling Green left fielder Tyrese Staffney had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Staffney was 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, even as West Michigan beat the Hot Rods, 5-4. The Whitecaps raised their record to 46-78.

Chris Bruso was the walk-off hero for West Michigan. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Whitecaps shortstop hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"It's always nice to be on the winning side," Bruso told the West Michigan Chronicle. "But we take nothing for granted."
