Orioles Move on to Round 3
|
The Baltimore (GCL) Orioles are bound for the Round 3.
A 3-2 win over the Toronto (GCL) Blue Jays at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium ended the Round 2, 4-2.
"We're not trying to get ahead of ourselves, but it's hard not to get pumped up and excited and think about how this season could end," said Juan Ortega. "This could be the biggest celebration Baltimore (GCL) has ever seen if we can win the Round 3."
The state of the Gulf Coast Rookie League championship remains in doubt, but the Orioles certainly appear to be strong contenders.
Ortega was named MVP of the Round 2 after he posted a .550 batting average, while adding 0 home runs, driving in 5 RBI and scoring 2 runs.
The Baltimore (GCL) Orioles will play against the Minnesota (GCL) Twins in the next round. Minnesota (GCL) won their series against the Houston (GCL) Astros 4 games to 0. The Round 3 schedule will be announced after the Round 2 finishes.
