On Road, Oakland Beats Boston, 5-4
|
Despite a great performance by Boston first baseman Eric Clark, the Oakland Athletics defeated the Red Sox by the score of 5-4 at Fenway Park. Clark went 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. The Athletics have an impressive 50-27 record.
Oakland relied on the hitting of John Leitner to pick up the win. The designated hitter clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Athletics on top, 4-3. For the game, Leitner had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Leitner, "one at-bat at a time."
