Mariners Suffer 5-3 Road Loss
|
The Los Angeles (A) Angels knocked off the Seattle Mariners, 5-3, in American League action at Angel Stadium of Anaheim. Los Angeles (A) pitcher and Saks, Alabama, native Pat Hayes had an outstanding performance. The winner was Hayes. He threw 5.2 innings allowing 3 runs. The loser was Jose Almodovar. The victory gives Los Angeles (A) a record of 54-54.
Pete Gaudi had a big 2-run home run for the Angels in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Los Angeles (A) leading 3-2 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a slider from former first round draft pick Jose Almodovar and punished it. The result was his 5th home run of the season, which put the Angels on top, 5-2.
"I felt good. I felt like I was locating the ball well and I was able to keep them off-balance," said Hayes.
