Nationals Tag Reds with 5-4 Loss
|
The Washington Nationals topped the Cincinnati Reds, 5-4, in National League action at Great American Ball Park. The standout performance belonged to Washington pitcher and San Juan, Puerto Rico, native Oscar Aispuro. Aispuro got the win, improving to 8-9. He allowed 6 hits and walked 2 over 7 innings. Aispuro allowed no runs. Roberto Gutierrez recorded his 3rd save for Washington.
Luis Salinas, the 34-year old center fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Salinas contributed a run-scoring double in the top of the fifth inning to put Washington up, 2-0.
"I was a little disappointed," said Cincinnati manager Sandy Baez. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
Washington is now 59-51, while Cincinnati is 48-65.
