Royals Best Tigers in Pitching Duel
|
In a tight game between the Kansas City Royals and the Detroit Tigers, pitcher Mitch Hagewood was terrific on the mound. The Kansas City right-hander helped his team to the 1-0 win. The winner was Hagewood. He threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Dylan Lane. The 4th-place Royals hiked their record to 63-70.
Kansas City took a 1-0 lead on Dan Good's 8th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Good hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Detroit pitcher Dylan Lane visibly frustrated.
"That's baseball," said Detroit manager Snake Clement. "Sometimes the other team plays better than yours."
